India Food Fight

The food in India represents an extremely old conflict between modernization and keeping older tradition in India. The traditional food not only is the food in India, if it loses to the western food then the Indian culture itself is threatened. The food of India is a battle that represents the clash of the two cultures very well and it is quite obvious therefore even people who may not see some things clearly will see this as though it was in sunlight. The traditional restaurants in India are now fighting a new war against the invasive, cheaper western food. Even though people know it is unhealthier they will still eat it and that represents the Western Culture, unhealthy, but impossible to resist. Except India has resisted for the past couple decades.

and thought of as a superfood. Though they taste good they are thought by \ many to be hugely unhealthy.

This hamburger is one that is sold in India. There are multiple other different hamburgers
sold, like the McAloo Tikki. Most of the hamburgers are vegetarian, but this one consists
of either lamb, or chicken meat.
This picture illustrates the tug of war between traditional India and the West by showing how
stereotypical Western foods spread even to India, trying to suit the needs and preferences
of the native Indians and infiltrating and taking over the traditional Indian foods.
Skit:
Apu: Hey Deepak look what I got at the new Western Restaurant that just opened.
Deepak: Apu! By supporting their restaurant you are getting rid of our culture bit by bit.
Apu: Nonesense! How on earth so?
Deepak: This food you are about to eat, if you finish eating it, then you are supporting the westerners.
Also if the culture of our food fails then who is to say the rest won't?
Apu: Good point Deepak. But I think we should be allowed to eat this food because it is cheaper and much more affordable for the poor people of our society.
Deepak: I see your point too. I think eating there every once in a while won't be that bad. But remember not too much. Alright Apu?
Apu: Alright Deepak. It's a deal.
